#  Aozora Search and Ctext for Researchers on Japan and China

If you are a researcher of Japanese culture you will likely be familiar with the digital collection of Japanese texts known as [Aozora Bunko](https://www.aozora.gr.jp/). While this site offers access to thousands of texts, it offers no way to search for the occurrence of terms across the entire collection. That problem is solved by [Aozora Search](https://textual-optics-lab.uchicago.edu/aozora) an extremely useful interface created by Professor Hoyt Long at the University of Chicago.



 



 

 

 



 

 

 

You should know that Voyant Tools can be used to analyze Japanese texts. Most often, however, you will need to edit the Stopword list (see above) to filter out more particles and common sentence endings.

[Ctext](https://ctext.org/) (Chinese Text Project) is one the major digital collections of pre-modern Chinese texts. Users of this collection should know that installing one or more [plugins](https://ctext.org/tools/plugins) will enable them to utilize the online tools for , interested in applying [tools](http://ctext.org/plugins/texttools/#help) that the site provides for [text analysis](http://ctext.org/plugins/texttools/#help%7Canalysis) (including nGram and Regex analysis) and [visualization](http://ctext.org/plugins/texttools/#help%7Cvisualization) (word clouds, networks) of Chinese.
